SYNOPSIS
In a time of jealous gods, sirens, flying harpies, sea monsters and clashing rocks, Jason risks everything to seize the magical Golden Fleece from the distant and dangerous land of Colchis.
Battling alongside his colourful crew of Argonauts and his old friend, Argus, Jaon's quest to regain his kingdom is an epic tale of adventure, love... and betrayal.
DEVELOPMENT OF THE SHOW Jason And The Argonauts (originally called Jason And The Golden Fleece) was selected for Theatre Building Chicago's Stages Festival in 2001 (above). Full of fun and energetic ensemble numbers, with terrific Musical Direction by Ken Pederson, Jason proved to be hugely popular with Chicago audiences.
THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL Leading UK Director, Tim Luscombe, showcased Jason at the Sherman Theatre, as part of the Cardiff International Festival for Musical Theatre in 2002. His contemporary take on the show was full of physicality and playfulness, and included the sight of Anna Francolini as a Greek sheep.
